PRESIDENT’S REPORT 10 DECEMBER 2018

Posted By Dural Rotary

It’s a busy time of year for Dural Rotary.

George Truelove

Our AGM is coming up, awards are being given out at our local schools that we support.

The Dural Men’s Shed has completed their training programme for the young men who have been taken under the wings of their many tradesmen on site. Joan Forno, Vivienne and I attended the presentation luncheon at the shed. The most outstanding person was awarded a beautifully made trophy. It was named in memory of our past President Allan Forno. Joan was very moved and thanked them for their kind thoughts.

Glenorie Primary School had their Awards Night at Galston High. The hall was packed. I was asked to present some awards and certificates. The talent and the enthusiasm of the awardees was amazing. A lot of VIP’s attended and the Primary School is moving up the rankings, like Galston High has done with good results.

Middle Dural Primary was next, a small school with a big heart. Mrs Mills who is now School Head Mistress taught my three children over thirty years ago. My son was School Captain and now lives in the same street as Mrs Mills in Glenorie. Small world.

Silvia had a Christmas party at her Early Learning School at middle Dural. She invited me to come along. I was greeted with a Santa Claus outfit on arrival!

Ho, Ho, Ho.

I will present our future new members details at our next meeting for the Board and Members approval. Doctor Athula Gunasekara is a Cardiologist and would be a great addition to the team at Dural Rotary.

Directors, don’t forget to bring your Annual Reports to our next meeting on Tuesday 18th December. It would be good to “Lock In” our new Directors for the next year at the meeting. An Agenda will be sent out to members and Minutes of the last AGM will be made available.

I attended an event at Eastern Creek Motor Racing Circuit on Sunday 9th December called Soar and Roar. A fundraiser for the Special Olympics. What a day! Four Hundred Motor Bikes and over Two Hundred immaculate cars of all types. A large Police group who have raised a lot of money and are heavily involved. The competitors were given a hot lap in the cars and the bikes did two hot laps to show off their pride and joys. It was good to open up the throttle while the Police watched on.

Kind Regards
George Truelove
